Grant Program: Guidelines

ELIGIBILITY

Grants are made only to U.S.-based nonprofit organizations certified as tax exempt under Sections 501(c)(3) or 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code. Organizations that have completed and filed Form 1023 but not yet received an IRS determination letter are not eligible to apply.

LIMITATIONS:

The International Foundation does not support projects in these areas:

  • Overseas adoption
  • Activities to propagate a religious faith or restricted to one religion or denomination
  • Indirect/administrative costs, capital improvements, construction projects or purchase of capital equipment
  • Organizations not headquartered in the U.S.
  • Non-profit organizations significantly funded or reimbursed by the U. S. Government
  • Emergency/disaster aid
  • Service delivery projects
  • Grants to individuals, conferences or loans

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Generally, grants range from $5,000 to $15,000 and are made on a one-year basis.
  • The board will review only one request from an organization within a twelve-month period.
  • Grantees must provide an evaluation report and financial report on how funds were spent within a year of receiving the grant; another grant proposal will not be processed until the evaluation is completed and received.
